Whether you call it visualization, positive or affirmative thinking, or day dreaming, the act of seeing yourself already living the life you dream about – or already having the wealth, good health, or prosperity that you desire — is a vital part of the process of manifestation.
Most spirit-based disciplines, including shamanism, singularity principle, A Course in Miracles, 12-Step Programs of recovery like AA — and many others — suggest that the notion of acting as if is the key step that offers more of a guarantee of success.
Go about your day believing
The idea, of course, is to visualize — and go about your day believing — that what you desire has already come about. I did this patiently for about a year in regards to something job related and it eventually came to be my current reality today. One really good way to do this is to keep a journal in which your entries are the entries you’d be writing after the manifestation has occurred. For instance, if you want a new car, your entry might be dated three months from “today.”
[Date, three months from "today": Drove my <new car> (include color, make, model, etc.) to the store today. When I came out of the store, some people were admiring it. I talked to them for a few minutes before driving home.]
This kind of future journaling can be extraordinarily powerful and when the manifestation occurs, very self-empowering. Few people are able to accept just how powerful their minds can be — and actually block it from their belief systems, even after a manifestation has occurred! Future journaling helps them to remember and underscores or highlights the event.
(Now that I am so familiar with the process, I burn the pages of the journal once the manifestation has occurred. In so doing, I am releasing any ego ties to the event and giving thanks to the universe for the gift.)
Time is an illusion
It’s good to become familiar with the notion that time is an illusion. To be precise, the notion of time is just a false template placed over nothingness to make it easier to for people to schedule things. Let’s face it — without time we’d all find it very difficult to manage our day-to-day lives. But, contrary to popular belief, time does not really exist … it’s a measuring tool and nothing more. And since time doesn’t really “exist,” it can’t really flow in one direction. In fact, there is no “direction” in which life flows (e.g. past toward future).
Since there is no time and it doesn’t flow as we have been led to believe, all things are actually happening simultaneously — past, present, and future — all dependent upon one another.
This is why acting as if is so vital.
When we practice the tools necessary to manifest something, we are utilizing the dependent nature of the universe. Everything is connected and time is irrelevant; therefore we “image” things we want “as if” they have already occurred. As a result, at least to our limited way of understanding, our “future” becomes our present and manifestation occurs.
It’s already yours NOW
In fact, the only reason we wanted to manifest something to begin with is because it’s already ours (in the “future”) and we’re (albeit unconsciously) claiming that future now. So, here are some cosmic rules to remember:
- Time is an illusion. What you desire is already yours … in “the future” (which is actually happening in the now!).
- Acting As If is actually a way of claiming that which you already have.
- Reality is a lot more fluid than you’ve been led to believe. It takes a lot less energy to manifest things than it does to hold on to the belief that manifestation is impossible.
- If you want something (and your intentions are just), it is because the universe wants you to have it.
Nothing other than actual, personal experience with these principles will help you completely grasp them. Be gentle and patient with yourself … it takes “time”. Then again, time is just an illusion and once you’re “there” you’ll understand that you’ve always been “there.”
And so it is.
